Development Squad claim first victory of 2020

AFC Bournemouth women’s development squad recorded their first win of 2020 with a comprehensive victory at the weekend as they hosted Alton Ladies.

Four goals from striker Helen Corbin, and a solo contribution from Jade Hockey, ensured the home side were came out on top.

The home side allowed Alton to create chances in the opening ten minutes of the game, but some good goalkeeping from Grace Reynolds ensured the game stayed level.

The Cherries improved their play and were rewarded for their attacking display when Corbin opened the scoring in the 27th minute, running onto a through-ball from Imogen Wade-Palmer before she smashed it past the Alton shot-stopper.

The lead was not to last long, as just one minute later Alton pounced on a loose pass from the back and smashed home from 30 yards.  

The Cherries came out after the break and dominated from start to finish. The hosts regained the lead in the 61st minute, Corbin once again beating the defensive line and placed the ball past the ‘keeper.

The young AFC Bournemouth team continued to push forward and Corbin completed her hat-trick just ten minutes later, as she latched onto a through-ball from Sian Tilly, before finishing in the bottom corner. 

Two further goals would be added before the end of the game, as Hockey netted in the 80th minute and Corbin would add her fourth of the game just three minutes later, coolly slotting into the bottom corner.
