We'll learn from defeat says Genesini

AFC Bournemouth under-18 defender Brooklyn Genesini insisted they would learn from their 4-2 defeat against Plymouth Argyle.

The Cherries will be looking to bounce back when they continue their EFL Youth Alliance campaign against Exeter City at Canford Arena tomorrow (11am kick-off).

Alan Connell’s team suffered only their second defeat of the season at Argyle’s Manadon Hub despite twice taking the lead through James Oliver and Genesini’s penalty.

Genesini told afcb.co.uk: “We’ll learn from it and get better on Saturday. We’ve had quite a few clean sheets in the league and the defence has done very well.

“Getting a clean sheet and a win against Exeter would get us back on track. We’ve played Exeter before and it’s a really competitive game and a great experience.”

Genesini’s spot-kick helped restore the Cherries’ lead against Plymouth, only for the hosts to hit back.

“The manager has spoken to me about who takes penalties and I’ve been taking a few in training,” said Genesini. “I’ve had a lot of success taking them.

“The manager has improved me a lot, especially from under-16s. In fact, the team has improved a lot from the start of last season because we’ve learned a lot. We’ve got a really good squad this season.”
