AFC Bournemouth’s under-18s conceded late but secured a friendly draw with Fulham on Saturday.

Nnamdi Ofoborh opened the scoring away at Motspur Park, the Cottagers’ training ground, to give Bournemouth a one-goal lead at the break.

The Cottagers struck back after the break, however, equalising through a penalty before winning the game in the dying moments.

Under-18s manager Alan Connell saw plenty of positives from the friendly outing, which followed on from the impressive 3-0 win away at Swansea in their last pre-season match.

"Ahead of the game we challenged the players to kick on from the performance against Swansea, to perform well again against another Category One side,” he said.

"The first half was really good, even better than the Swansea game, we moved the ball well and were delighted to go in 1-0 up at half time.

"In the second half Fulham caused us more problems and they levelled the score. At 1-1 we responded well and had three or four good opportunities and one cleared off the line.

"Conceding with virtually the last kick of the game was probably a bit unjust, but that's something you have to take.

"We're improving, getting better with each game and feeling good with the season proper getting closer and closer."

Next up in pre-season, the under-18s travel to AFC Portchester on Saturday 29th July (1:30pm kick off) before playing away at Southampton in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday 1st August.
