Southampton next for U18s after Portchester win

The AFC Bournemouth under-18s prepared for Tuesday's Southampton friendly by beating Portchester at the weekend.

The 3-1 away win on Saturday came via goals from Jaidon Anthony, Luke Hanfrey and a triallist as the Cherries regrouped from going a goal down to win.

Under-18s manager Alan Connell spoke about the manner of the victory and how it sets his side up for Southampton.

"Against Fulham we conceded in the last minute to lose that one so to come from behind and win away was especially pleasing," he explained.

"We expected a physical test against a men's team and we stood up to that really well, the players showed the right attitude and that's what we asked of them.

"We weren't always great on the ball, that's something we need to work on, but there were a lot of positives to take.

"It also sets us up for Southampton and getting the best performance we can against them on Tuesday."

Tomorrow's match - which is not behind closed doors - kicks off at 11am at Southampton Staplewood training ground.
