Pardoe on hat-trick in Bristol cup clash

Luke Pardoe has spoken to afcb.co.uk following his hat-trick in the Youth Alliance Cup this afternoon.

Alan Connell’s side hit five past Bristol Rovers in what was a convincing win, progressing to the quarter-final stage of the competition.

And following his treble at Canford Park Arena, the striker revealed his relief.

“It was a good win, I’ve been working hard in training,” said Pardoe.

“I haven’t had the best start to the season in terms of goals, but I’ve been working with Alan [Connell] and the boys on the training ground and that’s come off today.”

“It’s nice for it to come off in a game and the boys have helped in training with finishing drills and it’s getting me to where I want to be.

“As I said, I haven’t had the best start, but it’s ok now and hopefully I can keep on track and carry this on throughout the season.”

Pardoe also discussed how his side can take motivation from the senior players, with some big fixtures coming up in the next few weeks.

“We’ll take every game in time and the boys won the competition a few years ago, so it give us motivation this year to push on and get to the final,” he continued.

“The under-21s are all good lads and we’ve seen them around the training ground. They train near us, so we can see what they’re doing and how they play. They sometimes have their games here so we can see what we do like them and try to improve.

“It’s a big game against Oxford on Saturday, they’ll be up for it like us. We’ll be striving to win, so hopefully it’ll be a good game.”
