Ogunleye eager for Cherries to bounce back against Fleetwood

Determined Malachi Ogunleye is eager to put things right for AFC Bournemouth’s under-18s as they look to bounce back against Fleetwood Town.

The battling midfielder played 90 minutes as James Lowy’s side were beaten 5-3 at Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.

The Cherries found themselves 4-0 down after 50 minutes in testing conditions, before staging a late rally to give the Addicks a scare.

Jonny Day, Charlie Stevens and Kash Kasukumya were on target for the visitors.

Looking ahead to Saturday's fixture against Fleetwood at Canford Park Arena (11am kick-off) Ogunleye said: “I am very excited for it and, as a footballer, as soon as you lose you want to put it right as soon as possible.

“I know myself personally, I want to have a very good game. On Tuesday, there were some good bits but I think there’s some stuff I could do a little bit better.

“We are going to learn, rewatch and do our analysis of this game, just try to be better and keep improving. These things do happen, it’s how you react.”

Defeat against Charlton left the Cherries seventh in the Professional Development League table, with 27 points from 21 games.

“When we had it at 4-2 it looked really promising but obviously, as we wanted to score more goals, we committed more men forward,” said the midfielder.

“It’s just a learning curve for us all that even when we want to try to get forward, we have to realise we need to protect our goal at the same time.”
