Connell pleased by Kurran-Browne's progress

AFC Bournemouth under-18s manager Alan Connell gave credit to his side and Connor Kurran-Browne after playing in difficult conditions as they overcame Yeovil Town 5-0 on Saturday morning.

An inspired performance by the striker added four goals to his season tally whilst Euan Pollock also got onto the score sheet.

After the fixture, manager Connell told afcb.co.uk about his four-goal forward’s recent progress.

“I’m pleased with Connor Kurran-Browne’s performance,” he said. “To score four goals is great for him, they were different types of goals as well. He’s showing good composure, instincts to get in and around the six-yard box and the willingness to take a shot on.

“We’ve always felt there was more in him and he’s starting to show that which is pleasing. He probably could have had one or two more goals today but he’s heading in the right direction.”

Connell believed that Yeovil made it challenging but the extra quality from the under-18s gave them the edge in the fixture.

“I’m pleased,” he said. “They were difficult conditions with regards to the rain and the pitch was a bit soft at times, but I thought the boys deserved credit.

“Our attitude before the game looked right and we’ve had a good week of training which they carried into today’s performance.

“We got what we wanted out of today, which was playing out under pressure, we took the ball well and moved it quickly and were a threat in the final third.

“Yeovil played their part in a really good game, it made it difficult for us at times, but we had a bit of extra quality which enabled us to run out as winners.

“The Glovers were organised, competitive and it meant that we had to be good on the ball to create the chances and we did that enabling us to score five.”
