AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth's supporter liaison officer Liz Finney gives a mid-December update of fan matters at Vitality Stadium.

Equality

Following on from the mention of our community and equality focus meeting with supporters in a previous update, we have produced a video presentation to the board around our equality work over the last year.

Jeff Mostyn, who is our board equality lead, speaks about the various club initiatives and programmes and Steve Cuss, head of our Community Sports Trust, speaks about the delivery of equality projects in our local community on behalf of the football club. The board members have viewed the piece and are pleased with the progress so far on equality issues around the club.

While the presentation was created for our directors and is an informational rather than promotional piece, it gives a good overview of where we are on this important issue and it seems a good idea to share this with our supporters.

You can watch the video on YouTube by clicking here.

There is still much to do to ensure we embed equality across the club and in all our activities and we will keep you updated on progress with our plans and initiatives.

If you have any questions from the presentation or around equality please email me [email protected], call the club or catch me on a matchday.

In the meantime, thank you for the part you all play in making Vitality Stadium a friendly and welcoming place for supporters.

Looking forward to Sunday’s game

Our game against Liverpool on Sunday at 4:30pm is Bournemouth University’s Big Match – now an annual feature of our fixture calendar.

I know I am nothing if not consistent in asking supporters to arrive early at the ground, but Sunday is another good day to do that.

There is lots going on around Vitality Stadium, including the BU Big Band which will add to the festive feel of this fixture and is always a treat to listen to.

For young fans we had the green screen introduced successfully at the Junior Cherries Christmas party and the digi-screen will be outside to add to the entertainment. There is of course also the chance to visit the Superstore to fill the gaps in your Christmas shopping list!

The university is an important and valued partner to the football club as we work closely with them across an ever-increasing range of projects and initiatives and we are looking forward to welcoming them and you to the ground on Sunday for what promises be an exciting matchday.

Christmas

The Christmas period is always a busy one in football and this year is certainly no different. While we look forward to seeing you again on Boxing Day for the visit of West Ham United, may I, on behalf of everyone at AFC Bournemouth wish you and your families a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Our thanks too for your amazing support for the team and the club – it is much appreciated.
