Global Cherries: Beginning 'Bournemouth Turkey'

Hear from Turkish supporter, Talip Özdemir, who tells us how he first fell in love with the Cherries and how he supports from afar.

With love to all Bournemouth fans...

My name is Talip Özdemir, I’m 23 years old and I live in Turkey. I came to Bournemouth seven years ago for language school and fell in love with the town after the first three weeks.

My parents, who were staying in Bournemouth, offered to take me to a football game and it was the first time I came to Dean Court.

We were in a lower league that season and our situation was not very good, but I was told about the club's history and the difficult times there were – I really couldn't believe it.

I told my friends and my family when I returned to Turkey, and continued to watch our matches there.

In 2016, my friend Batuhan opened the supporter group, ‘Bournemouth Turkey’. I met and talked to him at the time and he came across Bournemouth in a blog post.

He fell in love with Bournemouth's excellent history and since 2016, together with Batuhan, we manage an active Twitter account called Bournemouth Turkey.

It makes us very happy that the club followed us on their official account and we currently have nearly 1,600 supporters. We've reached a real audience in Turkey and we will continue to support Bournemouth in both good and bad times!
