Junior Cherries enjoy design masterclass

A selection of Junior Cherries have enjoyed their latest masterclass at Vitality Stadium, shadowing the club’s graphic design team.

It was the first in the series to be held in person since the Covid-19 pandemic and the youngsters were able to make the most of it.

Not only were they given a tour of the stadium by the club’s Head of Community, Steve Cuss, they were also given the opportunity to speak with Head of Creative, Matt Payne.

Matt gave an insight into the thinking behind our brand identity, creative approach and the kit launch process, from the relationship with Umbro to the launch and reveal of the shirt.

Junior Cherries then partook in a question and answer session, while they were also tasked with designing their own AFC Bournemouth kit using the insight they’d been given into the club’s brand style.

The Junior Cherries were given the opportunity to present their designs to the group and were given feedback from Matt and his team.

Following the event, Matt spoke with afcb.co.uk to share his delight at its success.

“It was great to spend the afternoon with such an enthusiastic bunch of Junior Cherries and share the way we approach our creative process,” he began.

“The energy and understanding of the group made for a really engaging conversation and it was great to see some of the ideas we discussed come to life when they came to design their own kits.

“The team and I would like to thank those who came along and contributed to a really enjoyable afternoon.”
