Junior Cherries clean up Bournemouth Beach

40 Junior Cherries, along with members of our Community Sports Trust and the Dorset Devils, partook in a beach clean along Bournemouth’s seafront yesterday afternoon.

The event started with the group being greeted by Junior Stanislas at Vitality Stadium, with the winger answering questions put by the children, before posing for a group photo.

The young fans then participated in a briefing and discussion around the importance of reducing the use of plastic, the harm this can mean to our oceans and how to deal with recycling and reusing what we currently throw away.

The briefing also referenced the new ”Leave Only Footprints” campaign, aimed at keeping our beaches frees of litter, with a new short film provided by Bournemouth Council shown to the children.

Once kitted out with their very own Dorset Devils litter picker, tabard, gloves and bucket, our Junior Cherries were coached, courtesy of Excelsior, to Bournemouth Beach and spent almost an hour doing an excellent job of picking litter.

After all the hard work, participants then went along to Hot Rocks for some refreshments and a slice, or several, of Nathan Ake Pizza, which Junior Cherries can sample for free by showing their membership card at the beachfront restaurant.

AFC Bournemouth would like to thank the Dorset Devils and official Junior Cherries sponsor Hot Rocks for their support with this project.
