As well as the Supporters’ Charity of the Season, the club will also support three other nominated charities for 2018/19, listed under club, Junior Cherries and AFC Business charity partners.

Junior Cherries members will be able to cast their vote on the Junior Cherries Charity of the Season.

Each Junior Cherries member will receive an email with details on how to cast their vote in the coming days.

Alternatively, Junior Cherries members can click here to submit their vote.

The three charities nominated for the Junior Cherries Charity of the Season are Gully’s Place, Mytime and Safewise.

Gully’s Place

Gully’s Place at Poole Hospital’s Children’s Unit, is a very special home from home.

Sadly some children are very poorly and won’t get better from their illness. Gully’s Place is somewhere they can go to be with their family and friends and still get the specialised medical care they need. It’s a place where they can feel safe and comfortable and make happy memories.

It’s really sad when someone is very poorly and dies, and especially sad when that happens to a child. Gully’s Place is there to help families when that happens.

It would be amazing to give families the opportunity to visit the Vitality Stadium, watch a game or even be lucky enough to walk out on pitch. It would let them forget about their illness for a short time and create lasting memories for them and their families.

MyTime

MyTime is a charity based in Poole with an adventure centre in the Purbeck Hills.

We help the heroic children who give up their childhood to help others. These young carers aged 5-18 (with an average age of just 12), spend their evenings and weekends caring for a loved one. Many find that burden hard to shoulder. When asked, they say they feel isolated, tired and worried. Many suffer physical and mental problems as a result.

The selfless behaviour of these invisible young heroes deserves recognition. These children in our community deserve to be supported. They deserve help. They deserve a chance to play. They deserve a break.

MyTime exists to give these young people the break they need and some much deserved happiness. They come together at our adventure centre in the Purbecks. It's a safe place to relax, to meet others like themselves, to enjoy companionship, have an adventure and fun. For once, it is really is all about them.

Safewise

SafeWise has centres in Bournemouth and Weymouth and provides safety, health and well-being and skills for life education, in a fun, safe environment, to children from all areas of Dorset. In 2020 a new centre will open in Swindon.

SafeWise Bournemouth has a stunning indoor village complete with road, working pedestrian crossing, two-storey house, a bus, train and beach plus much more where children take part in activities including how to escape from a house fire and controlling brakes on a train.

SafeWise Weymouth features a full size outdoor road network with zebra and pedestrian crossings, a mini roundabout and streetscapes where children have the opportunity to learn road skills and ‘drive’. They also visit the realistic fire rooms that show the impact of fire.

By taking part in interactive experiences in a fun environment, children learn how to stay safe and what to do in an emergency.

SafeWise would like to partner AFC Bournemouth as we aim to provide children with confidence and skills for life. This fits perfectly with AFC Bournemouth as a family club to help promote active, healthy lifestyles for children in our community.
