Club recipe: Smokey Virgin Mary

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

The latest recipe from the AFC Bournemouth Hospitality & Events team is delicious drink to enjoy, whatever the weather.

Ingredients

  • 250ml of good quality tomato juice
  • 4 - 5 chunks of ice
  • 1/4 teaspoon chipotle chilli paste
  • 1 teaspoon BBQ sauce
  • A pinch of smoked sea salt
  • A good grind of black pepper
  • 3 dashes of original Tabasco sauce
  • 5 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 leafy stick of celery
  • 1 cherry tomato
  • 1 gherkin
  • 1 rasher of streaky bacon
  • Chilli flakes
  • Smoked paprika

Method

  1. Place a rasher of streaky bacon into a dry frying pan on a low heat. Turn the bacon every two minutes until it is nice and crispy. Once it has cooked place on some kitchen paper to drain any excess fat
  2. Halve the cherry tomato and the gherkin
  3. Thoroughly wash and trim the stick of celery so it will fit into the glass well
  4. Add the tomato juice to a large glass or a mixing tin
  5. Add 1/4 tsp of chipotle chilli paste
  6. Add 1 tsp of BBQ sauce
  7. Add 3 dashes of original Tabasco sauce and 5 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  8. Add a pinch of smoked sea salt and a grind of the black pepper
  9. Stir well until well mixed
  10. Fill the glass with ice and pour your mixture in
  11. Garnish with your celery, gherkin slices, tomato halves and crispy bacon
  12. To finish dust with chilli flakes, smoked paprika and a grind of black pepper.
