Club Recipe: Lamb Meatballs with Spicy Rice

In the latest part of the series, the AFC Bournemouth Hospitality and Events team have put together another recipe that supporters can prepare and enjoy at home.

This week, the hospitality & events team bring a spicy dish that will make for a delicious evening meal.


800g Lean minced lamb
2 Cloves of garlic (crushed)
½ Chopped red chilli
1 Teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 Teaspoon of ground cumin
Small bunch of chopped coriander
½ Teaspoon of table salt

200g Cooked long grain or basmati rice
2 Tablespoons of olive oil
1 Onion (diced)
2 Crushed cloves of garlic
1 Teaspoon of ground cumin
½ Teaspoon of salt
1 Teaspoon of cinnamon
1 Teaspoon of Cajun spice or harissa paste or chilli powder


1. Preheat the oven to 180C /Gas mark 4
2. Add all the ingredients for the meatballs into a bowl together and mix thoroughly
3. Shape the mixture into evenly sized balls then place on to a greased baking tray (you should be able to make up to 25 meatballs with the mixture)
4. Place the meatballs in the oven and cook for approximately 12 minutes
5. Whilst the meatballs are in oven, start to prepare the rice by heating the olive oil in a deep pan
6. Add the onion and garlic then cook without colour for 5 minutes continuously stirring
7. Then add the spices and seasoning along with the cooked
8. Taste for seasoning you may want to add a little more spice or salt dependant on your preference and stir until the rice is hot through
9. Finally, portion up and serve!
