AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

After a stellar April which saw AFC Bournemouth confirm their play-off spot, Jonathan Woodgate has been recognised by being nominated for the Sky Bet EFL Championship Manager of the Month award.

Successive wins during the month pushed the Cherries up into the top six, and with the fine run continuing to seven games the play-off berth was confirmed before the start of May.

Woodgate joins three other Championship managers vying for the award:

Jonathan Woodgate (AFC Bournemouth)

The Cherries' head coach found a stunning run of form in April as he increasingly finds his feet in Dorset.

Showing swagger and steel, Bournemouth moved into the top six with six wins from seven games and an 18-6 goal differential.

Lee Bowyer (Birmingham City)

Has skillfully given Birmingham an attacking threat while not sacrificing their defensive solidity.

Playing to the strengths of his players made the difference as they amassed 14 points from six unbeaten games, conceding just two goals.

Xisco Munoz (Watford)

While their automatic promotion rivals slipped up, Munoz and Watford held their collective nerve with three 1-0 wins.

They including one at leaders Norwich in a haul of 13 points from six games to seal an instant Premier League return.

Mark Robins (Coventry City)

April began with Coventry hovering perilously close to the relegation places.

Robins inspired four wins from seven games, including a crucial 1-0 win at rivals Rotherham and assured his club Championship football next season.

The winner will be announced on Friday 7th May.

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL communications director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
