Wilson signs new contract

Callum Wilson has signed a new four-year contract at AFC Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old striker has agreed fresh terms on a deal which will keep him at Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2022.

Wilson arrived at the club in July 2014 from hometown side Coventry City and quickly became a fans’ favourite as his goals fired the Cherries into the Premier League.

And the front man made the step up to the top flight look easy, overcoming two serious knee injuries to score 19 Premier League goals, including a couple of hat-tricks.

In all competitions, Wilson has scored 43 goals for AFC Bournemouth in 115 appearances.

“I'm delighted to sign,” said Wilson. "It's nice to see that the hard work I've put in be rewarded and I'm excited about the future.

"During my time at the club I feel like I've developed as a player, both physically and mentally. I've progressed and learnt a lot about the game and the position I play."

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “Callum is natural goalscorer and has proved over the last three seasons that he can do it at the highest level, so this new contract is fully deserved.

“To overcome the injuries he has suffered and still be performing in the Premier League week in, week out, speaks volumes about his mental strength, desire and dedication.

“Callum is an infectious character, a winner and a big part of the dressing room. Therefore, I’m delighted he is committed to the club and helping us achieve our targets.”
