Wilson - I've visualised that moment

AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson spoke to afcbTV after his excellent performance against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup.

Wilson scored a penalty on his first game back for nine months and set up Benik Afobe with a fine assist in the 3-1 win at Vitality Stadium.

The striker was keen to take his moment in the spotlight and feels that his hard work in rehabilitation paid off with the 90 minutes.

"When you have a setback you work hard for moments like that," Wilson said of his goal.

"That hard work on the training ground, in the gym and the running with the sports science team, it was all worth it and I'm glad to get 90 minutes.

"We have a lot of good penalty takers but there was no doubt I was taking it.

"I was always going to step up and put it where I did - you visualise moments and goals when you have dark days.

"It will be nice to get one from open play soon, I'll save it for the Premier League!

"Getting through the game successfully was good, I was still pressing in the 90th minute, so I feel my fitness levels are quite good and it's really pleasing to be back."

With Chelsea at home on Saturday, Wilson is hoping that his chances of appearing have been boosted by his exploits against Boro.

"I feel good, I've worked hard to get to this point," he continued.

"Hopefully going forward this stands me in good stead for the weekend.

"I enjoy my football and feel myself again, when you have something taken away from you its tough, but to be back playing, I'm grateful for that."
