Wilson handed maiden England call

Callum Wilson has been called up to the England squad for the upcoming international fixtures against USA and Croatia.

Wilson has been named in the senior England squad for the first time after an impressive start to the season that has seen him score seven goals in 13 appearances.

Gareth Southgate, who had previously worked with Wilson during his time in charge of the England Under-21s, has named a 28-man squad for the two games which will both take place at Wembley Stadium.

The USA fixture on Thursday 15th November, kick off 8pm, has been designated to the Wayne Rooney Foundation.

The UEFA Nations League game against Croatia on Sunday 18th November, kick off 2pm, will decide the Three Lions’ fate in Group 4.

Wilson becomes just the Cherries’ third ever player to be called up to the senior England squad, following in the footsteps of Jermain Defoe and Lewis Cook.

During the club's recent Premier League game against Manchester United Wilson netted his 50th AFC Bournemouth goal in all competitions.
