Voting open: September Player of the Month

Voting has opened for the Michael Matthews Player of the Month award for September.

Fans can cast their vote for who stood out for the Cherries during another good month in the 2018/19 season.

Eddie Howe’s side began September with a testing trip to Stamford Bridge. A 2-0 defeat to Chelsea presented the opportunity for a big response against Leicester, and the Cherries duly replied with a 4-2 win at home.

A heavy defeat away to Burnley halted a further three points for AFC Bournemouth, but a third round Carabao Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers under the lights provided the chance to lift spirits at Vitality Stadium again, with Callum Wilson’s last-minute winner ensuring progress in the competition.

Ryan Fraser is nominated for the award, after the Scotsman scored twice to send Bournemouth on their way to a big win against Leicester.

Callum Wilson got an assist in that game and is also nominated for the Player of the Month award, following his exploits in the Carabao Cup, coming on as a substitute and netting another late winner for the Cherries.

Joshua King and Adam Smith, both of whom got on the scoresheet in the Leicester goal-fest, are also nominated for the award.
