Voting open: October Player of the Month

Voting is now open for October’s Michael Matthews Player of the Month award.

Aaron Ramsdale, Steve Cook, Nathan Ake and Philip Billing are all up for the accolade after performing well across the three Premier League fixtures.

Over the last four weeks, Eddie Howe’s side drew two and lost one, and ended the month ninth in the table, with 13 points and a goal difference of zero.

Ramsdale, who played all 270 minutes for the Cherries in October, kept his first two top-flight clean sheets in the goalless draws with Norwich and Watford.

Additionally, the youngster has now made a total of 32 saves in the Premier League this season and was rewarded with a new long-term contract for his efforts.

Cook has also been influential and, like Ramsdale, hasn’t missed a minute of football in October.

Wearing the armband, the centre-back played his part in the two clean sheets and nearly got his first goal of the campaign as his powerful header thumped back off the bar at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

He is currently top of the Premier League chart for clearances with 73 so far this season and third in terms of blocks, having made 13.

As for Billing, he has settled into the Cherries side well since signing from Huddersfield in the summer.

His work-rate has seen him make 26 interceptions in the Premier League, which is the second highest overall, only behind Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester with 32.

Finally, Ake has once again demonstrated his consistency throughout October, also playing every minute of Premier League football for AFC Bournemouth.

Playing alongside Cook, the Holland international has been key as Howe’s side kept their first two clean sheets of the campaign and his stats for the month are fairly impressive.

A tackle success rate of 100% and an average pass completion rate of 86%, the defender has also made 14 clearances across the three games.
