Tyler Adams joins AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth are delighted to complete the signing of highly sought-after midfield talent, Tyler Adams.

Adams becomes the club’s seventh recruit of the summer, joining Andoni Iraola’s side from Leeds United on a five-year deal.

The American international will wear the number 18 shirt at Vitality Stadium and becomes only the sixth-ever player from the USA to play for the club.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “We’re thrilled to have brought Tyler to the club and he is a player we’ve admired for a long time.

“It’s been widely documented how much his talents have been recognised in this transfer window by other clubs, so to have him sign for AFC Bournemouth shows the ambition we have as a club.

“Tyler is an exciting player who possesses plenty of experience for someone that is just 24 years of age and we’re looking forward to working with him as he’s a player we know will be a great addition to our squad.”

Born in New York, he began his career with the New York Red Bulls, making his MLS debut in 2016.

In the January of 2019, Adams made the move to Europe, signing for RB Leipzig and reuniting with former coach Jesse Marsch.

During his time in the Bundesliga, Adams played in the DFB-Pokal final and also made his Champions League debut as Leipzig reached the semi-finals of the competition.

The midfielder then moved to the Premier League with Leeds in 2022/23 impressing in his first season in the English top flight.

Internationally, Adams is captain of the US national team and led them at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. At just 23 years of age, he was the youngest captain at the tournament and the youngest named US skipper since 1950.
