Tindall reacts to tight Valencia loss

Jason Tindall and Eddie Howe watch from the sidelines during the Valencia match.

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Cherries assistant manager Jason Tindall saw plenty of positives in Sunday's pre-season loss to Valencia.

The first Vitality Stadium match of Bournemouth's pre-season was decided in stunning fashion by Fabian Orrellana's 72-minute strike.

Tindall on the Cherries getting what they wanted from the game...

The players got some good minutes under their belts and we came through without any injuries so we achieved what we wanted.

It was a great goal. I think both teams defended really well and there weren’t too many opportunities. The performance levels were very good and we were very pleased with them.

Our defensive structure was good. We would have liked to have created more chances in the game but overall we were pleased with the performance against a tough opposition.

On Adam and Brad Smith returning from injury...

It was a really big boost to have them back. Again the main thing for us was for them to get minutes under their belts and come through without any problems.

Considering they haven’t trained for the last couple of weeks, I felt they both played very well. It was good for them to get back out there and play against some decent opposition and I thought they did themselves proud.

Brad is a good young player. It’s why we chose to sign him and he settled in well. He had a good game and we were happy with his performance.

Tindall on the Cherries' squad strength...

We have a very strong squad. We have a group of players that we are delighted to have.

If you asked us to pick a team for West Brom then it would be very difficult. Any player has as much opportunity as the next player to be picked for that match and there is a lot of competition for places.

Tindall on which 'keeper will start at West Brom...

There’s no guarantee of who will start. There is healthy competition for the goalkeeper position this year with Artur playing yesterday and Asmir playing today.

Asmir did very well with what he had to do today. He was very sharp off his line and he dealt with some crosses well. The one save he had to make, he made very well.

Artur has been an excellent goalkeeper for us over the last three years and Asmir has impressed us so far. They push each other at training which is good to see.
