Team news: Stanislas to miss FA Cup QF

Junior Stanislas will be missing from the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final showdown with south coast rivals Southampton.

The attacker was replaced before half time of the midweek Championship win over Swansea City and is not yet ready to return as the Cherries bid for a place in what would be their first ever FA Cup semi-final.

Stanislas will be joined on the sidelines by Jefferson Lerma, the Colombian suspended for the game following two previous yellow cards in the competition, while Shane Long is unable to feature against the side he's on loan from.

The last eight tie kicks-off at 12.15pm on Saturday and will be televised live on BT Sport.

Jonathan Woodgate spoke about Stanislas in his pre-match press conference: "Junior has got just a slight hamstring strain, but he should be fit after the international break."

The head coach also spoke about the rest of the injury list he is dealing with, some key players missing for the weekend but expected to feature again in the not-too-distant future.

"Adam Smith should be fit after the international break, Brooksy should also be fit after the international break," he said.

"Lloyd Kelly is there or thereabouts, he'll be going away with England. He needs a few more days then should travel with them."

The absences could open up opportunities for younger players in the first team set up, the current FA Cup run already offering them to a number of Cherries Academy graduates.

"They deserve their chance," said Woodgate of the opportunities that could be available.

"I'm not one to complain about squad size. We get on with it, every team gets injuries, you just need to make the most of it, especially for players who come in and can do a job."

Despite the difference in divisions between Saturday's opponents the head coach believes his side can upset the odds at Vitality Stadium.

"I've always been confident no matter what the situation is," he said. "We're definitely the underdogs in the game because Southampton are a Premier League team, but we go in thinking that we can win the game.

"If it has to go to extra time, if it has to go to penalties, we're confident that we can cause an upset, even though Southampton are a really good team."
