Team news: Brooks & Stanislas latest

David Brooks' match fitness is continuing to build while Junior Stanislas will be assessed on his readiness ahead of the weekend match with Coventry City.

Stanislas missed the away win at Blackburn Rovers on Monday due to illness, having been substituted early in the Good Friday match with Middlesbrough.

Speaking to the media ahead of the visit of the Sky Blues, Jonathan Woodgate spoke about the injury situation in his squad, starting with Stanislas.

"We're going to assess Junior, he hasn't been well," said the head coach. "He's been working with the physio so we'll see what he's like today, it might come too soon tomorrow, I'm not too sure.

"Junior's one of those who wants to play constantly, he's like that, so we'll see how he is."

Brooks played his first minutes since April at Ewood Park, with Woodgate speaking on the building fitness of his player, who he says will be available again on Saturday.

He explained: "Pleased to have Brooksy back, he's a top player. He's been out for six weeks and worked hard during that time and trained in the last couple of weeks before he returned. He's fit for selection.

"Apart from Lewis Cook, that's it, we have no other injuries.

"As you can imagine the mood's good, it's positive. I want consistency and not complacency and if we can get that we'll be there or there abouts."

Elsewhere in the squad, Woodgate offered his thoughts on Arnaut Danjuma, the in-form Dutchman who earlier this week was nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award.

"I've been pleased with Arnie since I've been here, in nine starts he's scored six and got four assists and is in good form at the minute," he said.

"He needs to keep on getting better and pushing, not just sitting there and doing nothing. It's my job as a coach to keep him pushing and keep on improving.

"He wants to do it and be the best player that he can be. He wants to improve defensively and then he'll be even better for the team. I'm really pleased for him."
