AFC Bournemouth returned from Huish Park victorious after recording a comfortable 3-1 win over Yeovil Town.
A goal from Lys Mousset, followed by two Benik Afobe strikes, were enough to supress the Glovers’ early lead and ensure that Eddie Howe’s side came away with a reward for their efforts.
After the game, Andrew Surman, who compleyed 90 minutes of the match, gave his view on the win as the Cherries played out their penultimate pre-season fixture.
“Tonight was certainly tough,” the 30-year-old told afcbTV.
“The wind played its part and it was difficult to judge the ball in the air, but overall I think we controlled the game and it was a good test for us.
“Yeovil are a good side and we managed to create a lot of chances against them. Perhaps we could have been a bit more ruthless but it was a good win.
“To go 1-0 down against anyone is tricky and we seem to have always had the ability to bounce back like that and we showed it again today.
“Its been a tough preseason and we’ve been put through our paces quite a lot but I feel good physically, as I’m sure a lot of the lads do too.
“I think that showed out there today and we’ve certainly got a fit and strong squad ahead of the West Brom game.”
The midfielder also spoke of the three under-21s who stepped up and got a run out with the first team at Huish Park.
“They were brilliant,” said Surman.
“I think Jack Simpson came on and did well at centre-half and he looked really comfortable so that was great.
“Its really nice to have them bedded in and for them to be given some game-time with the first team.”
