AFC Bournemouth remain unbeaten to start the season but were left frustrated by a 0-0 draw away at Peterborough United.
Goalless at the interval, Morgan Rogers went closest after a jinking run that saw him beat defenders but, at the last, not the 'keeper.
Good chances fell to substitute Jaidon Anthony and Dominic Solanke after the restart but the visitors were unable to break down a resolute United defence and were made to settle for a point on the road.
Scott Parker made three changes to his starting line-up from the weekend win against Luton Town: David Brooks, Rogers and Jack Stacey drafted in from the off at London Road.
The sun close to being fully set and an autumnal nip in the air, the action got under way in Cambridgeshire.
An uneventful opening ten minutes allowed the two teams to size each other up, Jefferson Lerma twice going close to threading the needle with through balls but just unable to find his ultimate targets.
Rogers then came close to breaking the deadlock as he burst past men into the box, the target coming into view the forward looked to finish over 'keeper Dai Cornell but his shot was blocked behind.
Stacey charged into the right-hand side of the box, his low centre scrambled clear, three minutes late Solanke pouncing on a loose ball in the area but firing over the target.
Jack Taylor had a long-range effort deflect behind in one of United's first forward forays, Bournemouth also able to clear the resulting corner.
The Posh came close to finding the opener after a good move allowed a bouncing ball to come in from the right flank, Jorge Grant looked odds on to score from six yards out only for Gary Cahill to make a timely and impressive intervention, the ball falling safely.
An audacious effort fully 45 yards out from Taylor was just a foot or two over the bar with the best first-half opportunities coming from such hard-earned half chances.
Ryan Christie ploughed in a low 20-yard effort that was comfortably saved by Cornell, before a banana-arched effort from Philip Billing found the stand instead of its target.
Brooks drifted forwards and played into the feet of Solanke whose backheel was a dangling Posh leg away from finding a Cherries attacker in the clear and set to pull the trigger, the movement the final action of the opening period.
After the 15-minute rest, the game restarted without changes in personnel for either side.
Some patient working of the ball around the Posh penalty area won the visitors a corner. Played short, a powered low pass picked out Brooks but the Wales international's connection sent the ball high and over.
The momentum was growing for Bournemouth, Solanke flicking Rogers' corner into the side netting at the near post from a corner.
The threats on the Peterborough goal continued, the same two players combining when Rogers passed through for Solanke, the striker cutting inside though his shot was comfortably gathered by Cornell.
Both sides made a double substitution at the same juncture just past the hour mark, Parker introducing Anthony and Ben Pearson as he looked to turn the away pressure into an away goal.
Anthony made an immediate impact with a cross that was just intercepted by Cornell, Jamal Lowe soon entering the action with the Cherries' final change of the evening.
A delightful Solanke turn on halfway set him free and running into space, he pulled back for Anthony only for his goalward effort to be blocked by a defender when the long-awaited opener seemed on the cards.
Solanke had two bites at the cherry following a cross from the right. First the striker looked to glance home a header, the ball falling back into his path off a defender he slashed at a better chance and could only find the home supporters behind the goal.
Into the final five minutes and the breakthrough was still proving elusive. Peterborough made rare inroads with a couple of slung-in long throws that the away defence headed to safety.
With ten seconds of normal time to go the Cherries won a corner, Solanke meeting it when well placed but directing his header a yard over the crossbar.
Six minutes of additional time were signalled from the touchline, and in the dying moments of those minutes the Cherries also got their reward. Lowe pushed forwards, delivered a dangerous ball that looked to be breaking for Solanke, only to be smuggled away at the last.
The final whistle soon was blown as Bournemouth collected an important point away at London Road.
