Solanke “proud” following season finale

AFC Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke aired his pride following the 1-0 victory over Millwall.

Kieffer Moore’s goal after coming off the bench was enough to secure three points in the Cherries’ Sky Bet Championship finale.

Having secured a return to the top flight this term, the forward has been a key figure in Scott Parker’s side, starting all 46 Championship matches and scoring 30 goals in all competitions.

Despite not reaching his own personal milestone in the league, Solanke shared his pride on this season’s return.

He told afcb.co.uk: “I’m proud to have got the amount of goals that I have – 30 altogether. I wanted to get 30 in the league today, but it didn’t come.

“I’m really happy with my goal return this season, though.”

With promotion already sealed on Tuesday night, Solanke wanted to celebrate with the fans at Vitality Stadium this afternoon.

He said: “There wasn’t really any pressure on the game today; with promotion already secured we were just going out there to enjoy it.

“We wanted to enjoy it in front of the fans.”

The former Liverpool man also shared how he has been enjoying the Cherries’ promotion since the 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

“We’ve been on a high since Tuesday night. It’s such a big achievement to get promoted,” he explained.

“We’ve enjoyed this week and today was a game where we could go out there and finish it off in front of the fans. It’s been a good week.

“I’ve been with the team and with the family over the last few days just enjoying it, celebrating it – it’s been nice.

“It’s been a long season, so we’re looking forward to some rest.”
