Solanke praised by Premier League legend Henry

Premier League legend Thierry Henry praised Cherries forward Dominic Solanke for his recent performances.

Speaking on Amazon Prime's Premier League coverage, Henry labelled Solanke as the player who has surprised him the most this season.

Solanke has scored six goals so far in December, taking his total to 12 in the Premier League for this season. Only Manchester City's Erling Haaland has scored more goals than Solanke.

Former Arsenal and Barcelona man Henry, who scored 175 top-flight goals, explained: "The way [Solanke's] been playing for Bournemouth, not only him, the team is doing extremely well but we've been waiting for him to make sure he's going to be that player.

"What he's doing right now is brilliant. Not only him but I'm happy for him because he did struggle for a little bit, now he's looking good."

Cherries legend Jermain Defoe continued the praise, explaining the good things that Solanke is doing on the pitch.

He added: "He looks confident, you see the hat-trick the other day and just the third one, the header, to generate that sort of power and to execute that.

"It's his all-round game really, that's as a focal point holding the ball up, he's running channels, he's working hard for the team.

"The intensity they play at at Bournemouth, the way they're playing now is brilliant."
