Solanke - It's a great achievement to be unbeaten

Dominic Solanke’s goal helped the Cherries extend their unbeaten run in the Championship to 11 games, as he said there is “nothing but good vibes” around the dressing room going into the international break.

The Cherries sit top of the league as the domestic calendar takes a break for the upcoming international fixtures and the striker is delighted with how the club have performed so far.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk, he said: “We are unbeaten for the season so far which is a huge achievement and being top of the league going into the international break is nothing but good vibes.”

For the first time this season, the Cherries had found themselves behind in a league game but that didn’t phase Scott Parker’s side as they battled from behind to beat Sheffield United by a 2-1 scoreline at Vitality Stadium.

Solanke’s penalty was a catalyst for the turn around and the striker admitted that he always backs himself from the spot.

“I back myself and my technique and I am always confident with them [penalties].

“We went behind, but the boys showed great character to get the lead back and seal the win,” he continued.

“I think in the first half there wasn’t too much going on but in the second half we came out and went for it - we conceded early on, but the character was great.”

As has been the case previously this season, Parker’s side has had to dig in deep to get over the line and the weather made it that little bit more difficult this afternoon.

“They were difficult conditions. It was quite wet and skiddy and we knew it was going to be a difficult game.

“But there was a goal for me and Phil and then we saw out the game which we have done a few times this season.”

The forward has been in terrific form this season and believes he’s “feeling good” after netting his eighth goal in all competitions.

The international break will be a perfect opportunity to improve and maintain focus.

“We can spend the next couple of weeks focusing on the next game, something we haven’t had the chance to do well before, which I think is important.

“As I said we are still unbeaten but there is more we can work on as well.”
