AFC Bournemouth can confirm goalkeeper Alex Smithies is currently training with the club.
An academy graduate at Huddersfield Town, 32-year-old Smithies has made nearly 500 appearances in the EFL. He turned out 274 times for the Terriers before signing for Queens Park Rangers in 2015.
He signed for Cardiff City in 2018, establishing himself as the Welsh club’s first-choice goalkeeper in the 2019/20 season, playing exactly 100 times across four seasons.
Head coach Scott Parker confirmed on Saturday that Jonas Lossl, who joined the Cherries during their pre-season training camp in Portugal, was no longer training with the club.
