Simpson signs new Cherries contract

AFC Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson has signed an extension to his contract at Vitality Stadium.

The 21-year-old centre-back's latest deal sees him linked with the Cherries until the summer of 2021.

Originally joining the club aged just eight, Simpson became the first academy graduate to start in the Premier League for the club when he lined up against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last December.

The Weymouth native has also appeared three times for the first team in the Carabao Cup this season.

After signing his new deal Simpson said: "At the start of September they told me they wanted to give me an extension on what I already had, I was delighted about that.

"Now we've been through the process of getting it sorted and signed and I'm very happy to have signed another new contract.

"It's great that the management believe in me and it's great to have the opportunity to play here."
