Rothwell talks togetherness in Cherries camp

For Joe Rothwell, pre-season has looked slightly different to how he may have expected it to, recovering from an injury that kept him out of last season's final two games.

He's been doing his rehab throughout the summer and, this week, is back on the grass with his teammates, partaking in sessions regularly with his teammates.

With a new head coach at the helm, the central midfielder is looking to impress as he sat down with afcb.co.uk to talk all things pre-season.

"Pre-season has been good so far," he began.

"For me personally, it's been a bit different to everyone else. I've been indoors a little bit with the physios, but I've also started to get back out on the grass with everyone.

"It helps having a change of scenery as you can take your mind off an injury and work in a different environment. It's very intense and very tough but getting away always helps.

"It brings the lads together and helps everyone integrate back into the group after a summer away. You spend every day of your life with the boys, but having those 4-6 weeks away from them, you weirdly start to miss each other a little bit.

"It's nice when everyone gets back together and we're together as a group."

Rothwell continued by discussing new head coach, Andoni Iraola, admitting that he's excited about what's to come having both watched and taken part in his sessions.

"The lads that have been involved a bit more are loving the training," he continued.

"For me, when I've watched a few sessions, I think it's really good. I like the way he looks like he wants to play and I'm really excited to get back to it.

"Hopefully all this good work sets us up well and we can have a successful season together."
