Ref watch: Taylor made for Terriers clash

Anthony Taylor will take charge of AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League clash against Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

Taylor has been a member of the Select Group of referees since the 2010/11 season and has officiated 218 games in the top flight.

The experienced Manchester-born official was in the middle for the Cherries’ 2-0 defeat at Everton in January and the 3-0 reverse at Liverpool last month.

Taylor also took charge of the Cherries’ Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat at Chelsea in December and when Eddie Howe’s team went down at Burnley in September.

The 40-year-old, who has refereed more than 1,600 matches in his career, has shown 129 yellow and seven red cards this season. He has sent off four players in his past five games, including Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira during an incident-packed North London derby on Saturday.

In 2015, he refereed the Community Shield final between Arsenal and Chelsea and the League Cup final between Chelsea and Tottenham.

Taylor, who is also a member of the FIFA officials’ list, will be assisted at the John Smith’s Stadium by Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn, while Andre Marriner is fourth official.
