Ref watch: Mason handed Leicester clash

Lee Mason will take charge of AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League clash with Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Mason has been a member of the Select Group of referees since 2006 and has officiated more than 500 games in his career.

The 47-year-old was in the middle for this fixture when the teams battled out a 1-1 draw on the final day of the 2016/17 season.

He has taken charge of three Cherries games this season – the 2-0 reverse by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the 4-0 defeat against Liverpool at Vitality Stadium and the 4-1 loss at Manchester United.

Mason has maintained his position in the Select Group since being promoted 13 years ago, having refereed the 2006 League One play-off final between Barnsley and Swansea.

The Lancashire FA official took charge of the 2009 FA Youth Cup final between Arsenal and Liverpool and the 2014 Championship play-off final between QPR and Derby County.

Mason will be assisted at King Power Stadium by Harry Lennard and Neil Davies, while Craig Pawson is fourth official.
