Ref watch: Kavanagh on duty at Emirates

Chris Kavanagh will take charge of AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League clash against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

The Manchester-born official became a Select Group 1 referee for the 2017/18 season and has presided over 31 games in the Premier League.

He was in the middle for the Cherries’ defeat at Tottenham on Boxing Day and for the reverse against Liverpool at Anfield last season.

Kavanagh has shown 59 yellow and one red card in 20 games in all competitions this season, sending off Leicester’s James Maddison in a 1-1 draw at Brighton in November.

The 34-year-old started officiating in local football at an early age in 1998 and worked his way up to join the National League list in 2012.

Prior to his promotion to Select Group 1 status, Kavanagh made his Premier League debut in April 2017 in West Brom’s 1-0 defeat by Southampton at The Hawthorns.

He was also fourth official for the League One play-off final between Scunthorpe United and Millwall at Wembley at the end of the 2016/17 season.

Kavanagh has taken charge of 206 games during his career and will be assisted at Emirates Stadium by Daniel Cook and Dan Robathan, while Jonathan Moss is fourth official.
