Ref watch: Atkinson appointed for Burnley game

Martin Atkinson will see over AFC Bournemouth's game against Burnley at Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Atkinson has refereed across the Football League pyramid since 1998, and began officiating at international level when he was FIFA Listed in 2006. He has officiated more than 650 professional matches.

He was promoted to the list of Select Group Referees in 2005 and has been the man in the middle for finals in the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

Saturday's game will be the first time Atkinson officiates a Bournemouth game this season. The Yorkshire-born official saw over two Cherries games last season - a 2-1 away defeat to Everton and a 1-1 draw at West Ham.

Across 29 games in all competitions in 2018/19, Atkinson has handed out 96 yellow cards and just two red cards.

At Vitality Stadium on Saturday, Atkinson's assistants are Stephen Child and Harry Lennard, with Simon Hooper the fourth official.
