Pugh - I just love scoring goals

Marc Pugh celebrates in front of the AFC Bournemouth fans after scoring against Birmingham City.

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth's match winner Marc Pugh was glowing of his team's performance at Birmingham City.

Pugh scored the crucial second goal after the hour mark, with a trademark chop and excellent finish into the top corner.

Here's what he had to say after the win over the Blues in the Carabao Cup.

On the win...

It's a great feeling.

A win is a win, to get that winning habit is an amazing thing and exactly what we needed - a confidence boost.

We needed to create chances tonight and we did that, even going a goal behind we showed character to bounce back.

It was difficult to concede from a set play, but we can only get better on that front, we've bounced back really well to avoid a cup upset.

On his excellent strike...

I knew as soon as it came to me what I was going to do, I'm absolutely delighted!

I love scoring goals and playing a part in this team.

It's great to get this win and I just love playing football, we looked really threatening tonight.

On getting back to winning ways...

I think creating chances tonight was key, in the two Premier League games we've played we haven't looked like scoring.

Jermain looked threatening, forcing the 'keeper into saves, and once we scored the first goal we looked more like our usual selves.

We got the ball back really quickly and the vital turning point was that early second-half strike.

On the squad depth...

You train every day but getting 90 minutes is important. You can't beat the match experience, when you're tired it affects your decision making and when your legs are tired it's mentally challenging and your decision making is affected.

I'm really proud of my team mates, particularly those who haven't played a lot for rising to the challenge and getting the win.
