Profile: Nyland's career so far

Experienced goalkeeper Orjan Nyland joined AFC Bournemouth just over a week after the 2021/22 season had started.

The Norwegian arrived as a free agent having played in the top flights in Norway, Germany and England, making more than 240 appearances in all competitions.

Born in Volda, Nyland was on the books of Mork IL and Volda TI before making his debut in the Norwegian first division for Hodd in 2007/08.

He established himself as first choice at Hodd and earned a move to defending Eliteserien champions Molde ahead of the 2013/14 season, playing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In July 2015, Nyland joined promoted Bundesliga outfit FC Ingolstadt and made 18 appearances in the German top flight and 30 in the second tier.

Nyland joined Aston Villa in August 2018 and featured 23 times as they were promoted to the Premier League after winning the Championship play-offs.

He made seven appearances in the Premier League in 2019/20 and also played his part as Villa finished as runners-up to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Nyland left Villa in October 2020 before signing a short-term contract with Norwich at the start of February 2021 and being named in 11 matchday squads as the Canaries clinched the Championship title.

On the international front, Nyland has represented Norway at every level between under-16 and under-23 and has also won 28 senior caps.

Nyland was named in the European Under-21 Championship team of the tournament in 2013 after helping Norway reach the semi-finals where they were beaten by eventual winners Spain.
