Ethan Laird arrived from Manchester United in January on a loan until the end of the season.

An exciting full-back, the 20-year-old is highly regarded at Old Trafford and has already featured for the Premier League giants in European competition.

Born in Basingstoke, Laird joined United as a 10-year-old and progressed through the ranks, making his under-18s debut in 2017/18.

Blessed with electric pace and impressive ball control, Laird scored United’s first ever goal in the EFL Trophy, netting in a win over Rotherham United.

He was rewarded with his senior debut, starting in the Europa League game against Astana in Kazakhstan in November 2019, earning praise from manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Laird made a second appearance in the competition the following month when he featured against AZ Alkmaar at Old Trafford, coming on as a second half substitute for Ashley Young.

He sealed his first loan move in January 2021 when he joined League One side MK Dons.

The England youth international quickly became a fans favourite, despite the season being played behind-closed-doors, and racked up 26 appearances, setting up three goals.

He followed manager Russell Martin to Swansea City in August, joining the Welsh club on a season-long loan.

The right-back made 20 appearances at the Liberty Stadium and was one of the club’s stand-out players in the first half of the season, leading the Welsh side in tackles made and dribbles attempted.

Laird has also been a regular in the England youth teams and has represented the under-19s on three occasions.
