Pre-season player diaries: Jaidon Anthony

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth academy graduate Jaidon Anthony makes a pre-season diary entry on pre-season, the Love Island finale and his Cherries journey.

Over pre-season, Cherries first-team players will be making first-person diary entries to give supporters a behind-the-scenes look at training ahead of the Premier League season getting underway on 6th August.

Pre-season has been really good for me personally. I had a nice time off over summer after some great celebrations; it was all happy.

It’s been a tough pre-season coming back in but we’re raring to go now. Everyone is excited and I certainly am as well.

While we were out in Portugal, we got some good work in the legs and I’ve felt a lot stronger after coming away from that trip.

We had quite a few Love Island watching parties while we were out there and that was our main bonding time. We were all so tired from training that we didn’t do too much outside of it bar a few team meals and stuff like that.

I was a big part of those Love Island watching parties, so that was good fun! I’m happy Davide and Ekin-Su won in the end because I thought Davide deserved to win it alone.

Those two together are so funny and Davide’s one-liners… what a guy! I like Dami as well, but Davide’s one-liners are to die for; he’s too funny.

Coming back from Portugal we had the two home friendlies, and they were two tough games. It was nice to have our fans back in and play in front of them.

We got some good minutes into the legs for everyone ahead of the big one on Saturday.

You, our fans, are going to be massive for us this season because you helped us on a lot of occasions last year in the tough games. I think it’s no secret how much you helped us in the Forest game.

When you’re behind us, it gives us that extra boost and going into another step up, it’ll be huge for you to push us on. Hopefully we can have a special time together.

On a personal note, I didn’t realise until earlier this week that it was only two years ago that Weymouth were promoted while I was on loan there.

I feel like I’ve come a long way since then but that was a big part of my journey, and it was a special day then. Hopefully we can have a lot more special times here.

This club has been a big part of my life as I’ve been here for seven years now. I’ve had so many great memories in the youth team, the development squad and now in the first team.

I just want to keep creating them and do some special things for this club.
