AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker was pleased to complete the signings of Jamal Lowe and Ryan Christie on deadline day as the club’s summer transfer business concluded.
Lowe arrived for an undisclosed fee from Swansea City and Parker believes his addition brings an exciting player to the team.
He told afcb.co.uk: “First and foremost, he’s proven in this division, he’s scored goals which is obviously a massive positive. He’s a very good, all-around player and we needed some depth in the number nine position and Jamal can also play either side, which helps.
“I’m very pleased with the acquisition and someone who I know who can bring a lot to the squad and we’re going to need him and call upon him.”
The final arrival of the window came in the form of Scotland international Ryan Christie, who arrived from Celtic on a three-year deal.
The Cherries head coach couldn’t hide his delight when talking about the attacking midfielder, stating that the player was a “top-class” addition.
Parker said: “I’m delighted with the signing of Ryan Christie. His deal was one that felt like it took a while to get completed but I feel we’ve got a top-class player.
“I’m absolutely delighted that we managed to get this signing over the line and fair play to the owner, Richard [Hughes] and Neill [Blake] for getting it done.
“We’ve got a very, very good player who brings experience and huge quality so without a doubt, he improves us, and he improves the team, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
The two deadline day deals meant that seven players arrived at Vitality Stadium over the summer window, with Emiliano Marcondes, Leif Davis, Orjan Nyland, Gary Cahill and Morgan Rogers the other additions and Parker is excited to work with his new-look squad.
The 40-year-old stated: “It’s been a really positive transfer window, I think we’ve done really, really well and completed some good business.
“At the start of pre-season when I came in, there was a lot of work to be done in the sense of a lot of players to come in and trying to re-sign players and build the squad.
“I think the people who have been responsible for doing that – Richard, Neill, and the owner - deserve big credit because when you look at the squad we’ve got now, I think the balance is very good, we’ve got experience as well as a young, dynamic, fresh look to us and I think we tick a lot of boxes.
“Now the job is getting together, gelling as a team and getting onto the field and proving ourselves.”
