AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker has expressed his delight as the club completed the signings of Gary Cahill and Morgan Rogers.

Champions League winner Cahill arrives at Vitality Stadium on a one-year-deal following his departure from Crystal Palace and Parker is excited about the qualities that the defender can bring to a young Cherries side.

Parker told afcb.co.uk: “Gary brings a wealth of experience, along with massive quality, and he’s someone who is a great signing for us for many reasons. He can help this young side we’ve got develop and add to what we need in this division, so I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Parker and Cahill have previously played alongside each other for England and the head coach knows exactly what to expect from the former Chelsea man.

He continued: “I know Gary, I’ve played with him and played against him many a time and watched his career develop.

“I know exactly what he’s about and he’s someone who can help the current players we’ve got here, and give them his experience, give them his advice and he can help us in terms of what we need as a team.

“We’re very, very lucky to have been able to sign him, full credit to everyone at the club who has managed to do that.”

Meanwhile, Morgan Rogers has arrived on a season-long deal, with the option to make the move permanent, and Parker is looking forward to working with the exciting forward.

“Morgan is a young, exciting prospect who fits the profile of player that we want to sign. He had a good loan last season in League One, I’m looking forward to it.

“He’s an exciting winger who can play a few different positions and it’s time for him to take that next step from League One to the Championship and we firmly believe he can do that and add quality and depth to the squad.”

Rogers has attended the club’s last two games, away wins over Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City, and Parker is pleased with the excitement the new recruit has shown about the move.

“He’s watched a couple of games, I’ve spoken to him and he’s a bright boy, he’s enthusiastic and he loves the game.

“I’m really excited to work with him, I love working with young players, which you can see in the current make-up of the team.”
