AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

After the conclusion of AFC Bournemouth’s third consecutive season in the Premier League, so comes to an end another Fantasy Premier League season.

The popular (for some!) online fantasy selection game pits user against each other, with real-time players scoring points dependant on their performance through each Premier League game.

But out of the 5.9 million users playing the game, which players proved value for FPL money throughout the season? Here are our top ten points scorers.

1. Asmir Begovic

Top of the pile, our Bosnia and Herzegovina international stopper. Our only player to play in every minute of Premier League action throughout the season, Begovic’s point tally was aided by six clean sheets and an important penalty save away at Crystal Palace.

Cost: £4.5 million
Total score: 112 points

2. Joshua King

Six goals in his last 13 games saw King rise to second in our overall points scorers. A spell on the sidelines in and around the Christmas period hampered his final total, for a player who was selected by 273,764 users ahead of Gameweek 1.

Cost: £7.0 million
Total score: 110

3. Nathan Ake

Consistently priced at around the £5.0 million-mark for the duration of the season, Ake was a popular pick among many FPL managers. Started all but one of our (away at Brighton) Premier League games, the Netherlands international’s highest points haul (14) came away at his former club Chelsea, when he scored and kept a clean sheet.

Cost: £5.0 million
Total score: 102

3. Callum Wilson

Another popular option as many manager’s third striker, Wilson saw his ownership jump from a low of 1,493 (Gameweek 7) to a massive 782,912 (Gameweek 31). A hat-trick against Huddersfield on his return to the team plus goal and assist hauls against Arsenal and Chelsea see him tied for third spot.

Cost: £5.6 million
Total score: 102

5. Ryan Fraser

Despite featuring in a wing-back role for the season’s run in, Fraser finds himself fifth. His best points tally came in the home game against Everton, where two goals and a fine performance saw him collect 15 points. Fraser’s most popular selection came in Gameweek 36, when just 69,690 users opted for our Scotland international.

Cost: £5.1 million
Total score: 97

6. Charlie Daniels

Another popular choice among FPL managers, Daniels was selected by a whopping 852,727 users for the opening Gameweek. Featured in the side for the majority of the season, aside from a brief spell on the sidelines in and around the New Year.

Cost: £4.7 million
Total score: 94

7. Jordon Ibe

Six assists throughout the season contributed for the majority of Ibe’s 85 points during the season. Also netted two key goals, in games against Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion.

Cost: £4.6 million
Total score: 85

8. Steve Cook

Another mainstay in our backline, Cook was once again another popular option for FPL managers. A clean sheet and match-winning goal away at Newcastle in November yielded a huge 15 points.

Cost: £4.6 million
Total score: 83

9. Andrew Surman

A regular in the side for the opening half of the campaign, goals against Brighton and Stoke saw Surman as the early pace-setter in our leading FPL players. Had scored 66 of his total 82 points by December.

Cost: £4.3 million
Total score: 82

10. Junior Stanislas

An impressive run of form in February and March was curtailed by a knee injury. Collected 45 points in eight games in that period, the highlight of which included a stunning free kick against West Bromwich Albion.

Cost: £5.7 million
Total score: 75
