AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

An impressive performance at Villa Park on Saturday has seen AFC Bournemouth players catch the eye in fantasy football.

Joshua King and Harry Wilson both netted their first strikes of the season, while a string of saves from young ‘keeper Aaron Ramsdale saw him pick up extra points.

Additionally, across the opening two gameweeks, seven Cherries players have failed to miss a minute, four of whom are owned by less than 2% of managers globally.

But, what can we take from last weekend’s performance and the side’s first win of the season?

Our Fantasy Premier League expert reveals all…

King becoming popular

It’s no surprise that King is becoming ever popular, too. The Norwegian made no mistake on Saturday, slotting home the Cherries’ opener from the spot inside two minutes.

As the club’s regular penalty taker, and with Eddie Howe’s side being awarded ten spot kicks across the course of last season, it may be worth having the Norway international in your side for that season alone.

The forward also provides a cheaper option to fellow striker Callum Wilson, costing £1.5 million less, so hecould be useful if on a tighter budget.

With 16.9% of users opting to go for King in their team, it makes him the most popular Cherries player on the game.

Harry Wilson strikes from range

We saw it so often for Derby in the Championship last season, but Harry Wilson fired in from range for his first Cherries and Premier League goal on Saturday.

That makes it his tenth strike from outside the area since the start of last season, much to the delight of the 1.3% of users who had him in their side.

For just £6.0 million, the young winger provides a good option, with him likely to be whipping in crosses and getting amongst the assists before we know it, as well as chancing his luck at goal from range.

Double assist for Callum Wilson

Despite still waiting for his first Premier League goal of the season, Callum Wilson has bagged an assist in both the opening gameweeks.

The striker got the final touch before Chris Mepham emphatically fired home the opener against Sheffield United last weekend, then going on to win the penalty that King duly converted on Saturday.

Callum Wilson does come at a cost, however. £8 million is what is needed if you want to accommodate the England international, with £14.6% of users currently selecting him in their side.
