Nyland keeps clean sheet for Norway

Orjan Nyland kept a clean sheet as Norway kept their World Cup qualification hopes alive with a draw against Latvia.

The Cherries stopper was on hand to help Stale Solbakken’s men take a point at home against a stubborn Lativa side which means the Norweigans sit in third place in Group G, level with second-placed Turkey.

The result sets Nyland and his team mates up for a crunch game against top of the table Netherlands on Tuesday, with a win meaning they’ll leapfrog Oranje in the standings.

Elsewhere, Chris Mepham was an unused substitute as Wales thumped Belarus 5-1 in Cardiff.

Despite the victory, Welsh hopes of automatically qualifying for the tournament are over as Belgium beat Estonia to secure first place in Group E.

Wales are now second and are already guaranteed a qualification play-off place after topping their Nations League group last year.

They face Belgium on Tuesday and if they finish second, they put themselves in with a chance of having a home draw in the qualifying play-offs.

The Welsh also showed their support of Cherries midfielder David Brooks with warm up t-shirts in a classy touch.
