AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto has revealed he’s enjoyed his first few weeks at Vitality Stadium.

The 33-year-old, who boasts Barcelona and Juventus amongst his previous clubs, arrived at the club earlier this month to challenge Mark Travers for the starting spot.

The experienced shot-stopper will be hoping to be involved in this evening’s Carabao Cup tie with Norwich City, potentially making his Cherries debut.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk ahead of the trip, Neto said: “My teammates have given me a really nice welcome and the quality is amazing, what they do in training and in games.

“I think it’s a young group where I can help them and it’s nice to be part of this team and we can make great improvements.

“I think we will have a great season; we can show what we can do, and I can help my teammates at the club.”

The one-time Brazil international revealed he’s not been surprised by the quality shown in the Premier League, having watched on from the stands during the win over Aston Villa before being named on the bench for the defeats to Manchester City and Arsenal.

He commented: “The intensity of the games, everybody knows!

“The game is like a battle in war, the guys know this better than me and it’s what we’ve been waiting for.

“The last two games have been bad results but 100% we understand what we have to do, and we will show in these games what we need to do in our performances.”

The Cherries travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City in the second round of the Carabao Cup, having made the same trip at the same stage last season.

While changes are to be expected with an away game with Liverpool on the horizon, Neto knows that the game is an opportunity to improve on the defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.

He continued: “It’s a tough challenge in every game, we don’t expect another thing.

“It’s an opportunity to give a better performance, I think the guys understand it and we also have to enjoy it.

“I’m doing my best and I’m waiting for my opportunity. With these things, the coach has to make a decision and we’ll find the best time for it.

“Most importantly, I’m working very, very well and I feel good in the training sessions and I’m ready for the moment.”
