Neto extends contract at the Cherries

AFC Bournemouth are delighted to confirm club captain Neto has signed a three-year contract extension.

The 33-year-old, who holds one of the highest save percentages in Europe’s top five divisions, has committed to the Cherries until the summer of 2026.

Neto joined the club from Spanish giants Barcelona in August and has made 18 appearances in all competitions.

The experienced shot-stopper, who has been capped by Brazil at senior level, has played for the likes of Valencia, Juventus and Fiorentina in a long and distinguished career.

As well as his excellent displays, Neto, who speaks four languages, has established himself as a central figure in the club’s dressing room.

Neill Blake, AFC Bournemouth Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted that Neto has chosen to commit for a further three years. He has been an important addition this season, putting in some outstanding performances on the pitch.

“He’s also proven to be a great leader in and around the dressing room and he’s highly respected across the club.

“For a player of Neto’s quality to want to extend his time at AFC Bournemouth is testament to the progress being made at the club.”

Neto added: "I’m really happy. I’d like to say thank you for the welcome from the fans from when I first arrived. It was unbelievable.

"We will give our 100% to make sure we stay in the Premier League now and always do our best."
