Chris Mepham has become the latest AFC Bournemouth player to commit his future to the club after signing a long-term contract extension.

The defender has agreed terms to extend his stay at Vitality Stadium for an additional two years, the deal running until the summer of 2025.

Mepham joins teammates Mark Travers, Dom Solanke, Lewis Cook, Adam Smith and David Brooks in pledging himself to the club for the foreseeable future.

The 24-year-old Londoner has made 86 appearances in all competitions since arriving from Brentford in January 2019.

Mepham has started all six Premier League games this season, playing his part as the Cherries have taken seven points from wins over Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest and a draw against Wolves.

Capped 31 times by Wales, Mepham was pivotal as they reached their first World Cup finals since 1958 and will be hoping to feature in Qatar later this year.

Neill Blake, AFC Bournemouth Chief Executive, said: “Chris is an important player and a great character who has proven his value to the club over the last few years.

"We are very pleased that he, like many of his teammates, has committed his future to us and I'm sure he will continue to make a big contribution both on and off the pitch.”

Mepham, who netted his maiden Premier League goal on the opening day of the 2019/20 season against Sheffield United, told afcb.co.uk: "I couldn’t be happier to sign this deal.

"There is a unique togetherness and spirit that runs throughout this football club and I’m really excited to continue being a part of our journey over the next few years."
