Mepham and Brooks' Euro 2020 ends

AFC Bournemouth duo David Brooks and Chris Mepham’s Euro 2020 tournament with Wales ended following defeat in the round of 16 to Denmark.

Cherries defender Mepham, who can reflect on his performances at the tournament with great pride, played the full 90 minutes in the 4-0 defeat in Amsterdam.

Brooks came off the bench for the third time at the tournament late on in the fixture.

In front of a dominant Danish crowd, Kasper Dolberg scored twice and late strikes from Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite sealed Wales' fate.

Former Cherries loanee Harry Wilson was also sent off late on.

Robert Page's men had done superbly well to qualify as runners up out of an extremely difficult Group A which contained Italy, Switzerland and Turkey, but after having to travel far and wide across Europe, the impressive Danes were just a bridge too far.

23-year-old Mepham in particular caught the eye for Wales at his first major tournament, showing his quality at the back by playing in three of the Dragons’ four tournament fixtures.
