The Cherries are back on home soil, as Eddie Howe’s side welcome Huddersfield to Vitality Stadium this evening.

Tuesday 4th December
Premier League
Vitality Stadium

The two fixtures last season couldn’t have been more contrasting, the Cherries running out 4-0 winners at home, but losing 4-1 up north.

This season, however, Huddersfield sit just one place above the relegation zone in 17th, already possessing a goal difference of -15. Additionally, none of the Terriers strikers have netted for them in the Premier League this season, with all goals coming from defence and midfield.

Last time out

Huddersfield 1-2 Brighton & Hove Albion

Huddersfield couldn’t build on their form ahead of the game, having been unbeaten in three top flight fixtures beforehand.

Despite taking the lead in the first minute through Mathias Jorgensen, a red card for Steve Mounie on the half hour mark meant Huddersfield had to play the majority of the game a man down.

On the stroke of half time Shane Duffy bagged an equaliser for the visitors, before Florin Andone struck a winner with 20 minutes to go.

Huddersfield: Lossl, Jodgensen, Schindler, Kongolo, Hadergjonaj, Mooy (Smith 63), Hogg (Williams 77), Billing, Durm, Pritchard (Depoitre 49), Mounie

2018/19 top scorer: Mathias Jorgensen, Aaron Mooy (2 goals)

The manager

Wagner is well known for being Jurgen Klopp’s assistant at Borussia Dortmund between 2011 and 2015. He left the role that year to come to England and take his first managerial role with Huddersfield.

Ever since, he has guided the side to Premier League promotion through the play-offs and kept the Terriers up in their first top flight season.

Injury news

Steve Mounie will miss this evening’s game due to suspension, seeing red against Brighton on the weekend. Additionally, Chris Lowe has not featured since the draw with West Ham in early November, with David Wagner ruling him out for a ‘few weeks’ as a result of a shoulder injury.

Key stats

Tonight’s game will be just the third Premier League encounter between the two sides.
